Impact

Why this scholarship matters.

The Challenge

The financial reality for college students.

Across the country, talented students are forced to make impossible choices. Work extra shifts instead of studying. Skip an unpaid internship because rent is due. Postpone creative projects because software licenses and equipment are too expensive.

At FAMU, these pressures are real — and they are personal. The School of Journalism & Graphic Communication trains the next generation of reporters, public relations leaders, and visual designers. But talent alone isn't enough when financial stress competes for attention.

The Difference

How scholarship funding changes lives.

Less Debt

Scholarships reduce reliance on loans, giving graduates more freedom to pursue purpose-driven careers.

More Opportunity

Students can accept internships, attend conferences, and invest in portfolios instead of picking up extra shifts.

Stronger Completion

Financial support helps students stay enrolled, maintain focus, and cross the graduation stage on time.

Our Hope

The impact we want to create.

  • Help at least one SJGC student per year graduate with less financial stress
  • Build a network of alumni mentors who guide recipients into careers
  • Partner with media and design organizations to open doors
  • Celebrate Black excellence in journalism, PR, and graphic design
  • Inspire other FAMU alumni to give back in meaningful ways

A ripple effect.

When one student receives support, the impact extends far beyond graduation. They become professionals who hire others, mentors who guide the next class, and donors who give back. That's the legacy we are building — one scholarship at a time.
