About Us

Rooted in FAMU. Built for the next generation.

Our Story

Why we started this foundation.

Ahmad Kebe and Christian Lawrence met as students in the Florida A&M University School of Journalism & Graphic Communication. They experienced firsthand the financial pressures that can pull talented students away from their studies — extra shifts at work, unpaid internships turned down, and dreams deferred.

After graduating and building careers in media, communications, and design, they came back to a shared conviction: no promising SJGC student should have to choose between paying bills and pursuing their purpose. The Write Your Own Legacy Scholarship was created to close that gap.

This foundation is a love letter to FAMU and to the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication. It exists to honor the legacy of those who invested in us and to pay it forward to those coming behind us.
